Mindfulness

Mindfulness means paying attention to what’s happening in the present moment in the mind, body and external environment, with an attitude of curiosity and kindness. It is typically cultivated by a range of simple meditation practices, which aim to bring awareness to thinking, feeling and behaviour patterns, and to develop the capacity to manage these with greater skill and compassion. This has been found to lead to an expansion of choice and capacity in how to meet and respond to life’s challenges, and therefore live with greater wellbeing, mental clarity and care for yourself and others. Introduction to meditation and mindfulness
For anyone interested in beginning a mindfulness practice, I offer a six-week, one-to-one introduction to meditation and mindfulness course. These once weekly 50-minute sessions are inspired and supported by a long-established Zen Buddhist practice as well as my training in depth psychotherapy. Specifically tailored to each person, the course is essentially about slowing down and learning how to deeply listen to the body-mind – as well as exploring what you need in order to nurture a grounded, sustainable awareness practice. Sessions may include guided meditation; working with posture and the breath; gentle movement; visualisation; and walking meditation. Practice sessions sometimes (by mutual agreement) take place outside in the natural environment. Cost: 75 per session.
